 Veronica McPhee
grew up in a musical
family. She was a member of many choirs and began taking singing
lessons while in elementary school. She went on to complete a
Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria in
1994. She is involved with Squamish's community
musical theatre productions
both on and off stage. She has been seen as Maria in The Sound
of Music and performed
in the revue Our
Favourite Broadway. She
lent her expertise as Vocal Coach in Little
Shop of Horrors and Co-Music
Director for Our
Favourite Broadway. Since moving to Squamish in 2000, Veronica has been working for School District No. 48 and currently teaches music at Myrtle Philip Community School in Whistler. Veronica has experience as performer, educator, clinician, and director. Last September, she founded the Squamish Children’s Chorus for children aged five to ten. This is her third year as Music Director for the Sea to Sky Singers. In all of her roles, she is committed to developing strong, healthy voices in young and old alike. She has appeared as a soprano soloist with The University of Victoria Chorus and Orchestra, the Cowichan Consort, the Nanaimo Symphony Orchestra, the Courtenay Youth Music Centre Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Victoria, and the Whistler Singers. For about five years, she was a member of Three-O, an a cappella trio with two of her sisters. The successful ensemble was featured in many concerts, festivals, and school shows throughout Vancouver Island. |
The Sea to Sky Singers is a non-profit, enthusiastic community choir dedicated to professionalism, learning, and performing a variety of music within and outside the Squamish district. Rehearsals are held weekly, at Squamish Baptist Church (Mamquam Rd.), on Tuesday nights from 7.00 - 9.00 p.m. Two main concerts are given in Squamish each year, and smaller groups from the choir perform at various events in Squamish, Whistler, and the Lower Mainland. Auditions for all parts are held during the first two weeks of fall and spring terms, as announced in the "Squamish Chief;" please contact Veronica McPhee if you are interested in participating. |
